I’m Jade, the founder of Surgery Suit®, and for more than six years I’ve been deeply involved in understanding dog sizing, body structure, and the challenges pet owners face when finding clothing that fits properly.

 

My journey began with my other brand, Sausage Dog Box, where I created breed-specific clothing and accessories designed especially for Dachshunds — a breed known for being uniquely difficult to size.

Where It All Began

Many years ago, I designed my first recovery suit for Dachshunds because nothing available on the market fit correctly. Most were made from synthetic, uncomfortable fabrics that caused irritation, especially on shaved, sensitive skin after surgery. After launching the original suits, I quickly began receiving requests from owners of other breeds who were desperate for something similar: soft, breathable, and actually shaped for their dog’s body.

The Birth of Surgery Suit® and BreedFit® Sizing

That’s where the idea for Surgery Suit® and BreedFit® Specific Sizing was born.

Pet sizing is incredibly complex, far more than most people realise. Each breed has its own proportions, and even a few centimetres can make the difference between a comfortable, secure fit and a suit that twists, rubs, or restricts movement.

Creating a recovery suit that feels natural for every pet took years of research, measuring, testing, and refining. It was a long, demanding project, but one driven by my passion for dogs and my desire to make recovery easier, calmer, and kinder for pets and their owners.
